Chicken Orange Recipe - More than 15 years ago we planted a few orange trees, and we always hope for the best for new fruit trees and the desire to adapt to our climate, and hopefully grow to be healthy and fertile. Our philosophy grows healthy trees come first and then the fruit is coming later. We don't always expect bumper crops in the first two or three years because it takes time to get the trees used for their new home, weather and soil.

Fast forward 15 years later, this orange tree is as happy as ever and producing more orange the way we can juice. So we were going out with different ways to cook oranges with one absolute favorite way is to make orange chicken! We call it fresh orange chicken because we use fresh orange juice and flavor makes all the difference when you click on fresh juice for the recipe. For more flavor, we relish the oranges because we can't let any of the waste go. Sure you can use orange juice from focus, but if you can get your hands on a few fresh oranges, you'll be able to taste the difference.

It's way better than going out and honestly, it's so much easier to make this from driving to an Asian restaurant to take out. We're huge masses of juicing oranges for fresh morning juice and on those rare times we don't have any in the garden, we'll buy 10 bags from the farmer's market. Over the years we've used many juices and a large amount of juice, and our favourite is this electro-crups juice. We've gone through hundreds of pounds with us and love as much as any commercial juicer that I used when I was in the restaurant world.

Keep cooking the food down until it becomes super thick, like in the picture. But sauce tastes too big in almost any consistency, so you can determine how long you want to cook the sauce. The more you cook, the thicker the sauce becomes.

Ingredients

  • About 1 pound (455 grams) chicken breast, cut to bite size cut
  • 1 1/2 Cups (360 ml) fresh orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • Two spoons (30 ml) of finely chopped oranges
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Grape seed oil (or any high point of flash oil-canola oil, peanut oil, etc.)
  • Kosher salt, to savor
  • Fresh powdered black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped cilantro or parsley, for the garnish
  • Serve with rice, couscous or quinoa

Directions
  1. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Make Orange noise: add orange juice, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a pan. Bring the mixture to simmer over high medium heat, and sometimes stir up cooking until the mixture is reduced to 1/2 cups, about 20 minutes. Stir in the orange zest. Step aside.
  3. The heat of the oil is at a high average temperature. Add chicken and season with salt and pepper. Cook the chickens so cooked through and crispy on the edges, about 3-5 minutes depending on how big your chicken pieces are. Remove the heat and add oranges to the chicken, the excitement of the coat evenly.
  4. And rice with warm parsley, quinoa or quinoa.
